CEVNI ASSESSMENT & TEST 
For all pleasure craft enthusiasts wishing to cruise on inland waterways. This short test, taken at the Centre, assesses knowledge of the Waterways Code and European Regulations for Inland Waterways. You will need to have and be familiar with the Regulations, a copy of which can be purchased from the Centre.

VHF RADIO (inc GMDSS) COURSE 
A one day course designed to promote confident VHF radio use and knowledge of the Global Maritime Distress Safety System. All course candidates must read the RYA VHF Radio Manual (G22), which is available from the Centre, and be conversant with the phonetic alphabet. 

FIRST AID COURSE (Small Boat) 
Whether you are on shore or on the water, this course aims to provide confidence and knowledge to assist casualties. Prevent further injury and provide vital information to the emergency services.

RYA BASIC NAVIGATION & SAFETY (Included all course materials and equipment)
An entry level introduction to the basic skills required before taking a small boat to sea or taking an active part in running a boat. Ideal for powerboaters, sea anglers, divers, boatmasters, dinghy and keelboat sailors and inshore racers. Provides a basic knowledge of: Charts, Buoyage, Navigation, Safety, Anchoring, Tides, Electronic navigation, Rules of the road, Weather forecasts, Pilotage and Passage planning. 
Courses are run over 2 days 
Minimum 16 hrs, 08:45 - 17:30.
A great stepping stone for students working towards the higher level shorebased courses and introductory level practical courses.

RYA DAY SKIPPER 
(course materials included)
An elementary course designed to give those who are new to yachting, both power and sail, a knowledge of: seamanship, chart-work, position fixing, tides, electronic navigation, coastal navigation, pilotage, navigation in restricted visibility, weather forecasting and meteorology and  International Regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea. This course gives you enough knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day. Knowledge of lights is included in case you arrive back in darkness. 

Courses are run over 6 days
Minimum 40 hrs +2 assessment papers, 09:00 - 17:30.
Equipment needed: Note pad, 2b pencil, Eraser, and Portland plotter/divider kit.


RYA COASTAL SKIPPER/YACHTMASTER OFFSHORE   (course materials included)
An advanced course building on the Day Skipper syllabus for more experienced skippers, covering advanced navigation, detailed tidal knowledge, electronic navigation, advanced meteorology, pilotage, passage planning, Customs regulations, navigation in restricted visibility and a detailed study of International Regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea.  This course covers all the theory required for the Coastal Skipper and the Yachtmaster Practical Examinations. This course is not suitable for beginners.
Courses are run over 6 days
Minimum 40 hrs +3 exam papers, 09:00 - 17:30.
Equipment needed: Note pad, 2b pencil, Eraser, and Portland plotter/divider kit.
